Dow drops 2% as US sell-off deepens on earnings, geopolitical angst
New York, Oct 23, 2018 (AFP) Wall Street stocks tumbled early Tuesday on mixed corporate earnings and mounting geopolitical unease over Saudi Arabia and Italy's budget standoff with the European Union.
Near 1420 GMT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 24,808.45, down more than 500 points, or two percent, and less than 100 points away from wiping out the remainder of the blue-chip index's gains for 2018.
The broad-based S&P 500 was down 2.2 percent at 2,695.39, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index had fallen 2.6 percent to 7,272.80.
